What is Commercial management in construction
In construction, commercial management refers to applying skills to maximise business potential by ensuring the successful management of a project or project(s) finances and procurement.
In short any processes that can impact a project’s profits, timescales and quality.
This position is responsible for a single Project or Group of Projects, from inception to completion.
The title CM is used more frequently with contracting organisations. Certain countries, also use the title in Construction Consultancy organisations.
Typically candidates start as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor and progress to Managing Surveyor then on to CM or SCM.
